Rotary is the oldest service club in the world. It was founded in 1905 and has been serving communities around the world for over a hundred years. The Rotary Club Pont de l'Alliance, formerly known as Basse-Terre Fort St. Charles, was founded in 1985, at the initiative of Gerard Petit. The club has changed its identity in 2019, so that it reflects the composition of its current workforce. Statutory meetings are held 2 friday per month, at 19:30 at the local of France-Alzheimer Guadeloupe, association whose club is at the origin. The RC Pont de l'Alliance is a member of District 7030. This intermediate instance of Rotary, is a geographical area covering the Southwest of the Caribbean. It consists of the clubs of St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Barbados, Aruba, Bonair, Curacao, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
